A Study of Parental Encouragement and Academic Performance of High School Students in Jammu

Abstract

This study was undertaken to study the parental encouragement on academic performance. The sample comprised of 100 students (50 males and 50 females) from four public high schools of Jammu district. The subjects were taken from two govt. schools each from the urban and rural areas. The sample of rest two private schools also selected from urban and rural area. Parental Encouragement Scale by Aggrwal was used for collecting the data. The findings of the study showed that there is no significant difference was found between parental encouragement of high school students on the base of the rural and urban areas and gender- wise was rejected. Therefore, the present study reveals that there is no significant difference between academic performance of high school students based on the rural and urban areas and gender was found to be rejected at 0.05 level of significance.
