Abstract |

Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) is a novel technology which takes wide attention in recent years. Due to the rapid topology changes and frequent disconnections, it has become difficult to design efficient routing protocols for routing data among vehicles, also known as V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) communications. The existing VANET routing protocol cannot satisfy every traffic scenario. Therefore, the design of efficient routing protocols has drawn significant attention. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the pros and cons of routing protocols that can be used to further improvement of any new routing protocol. In this paper, a brief introduction, characteristics of VANET are discussed. Also, a comparison of different routing schemes that are mainly categorized into five types named as Position based, topology based, broadcast based, cluster based and geographical based are presented along with their props and corns. |
