Abstract

In the process manufacturing Industry, such as Steel Industry the entire supply chain is vertically as well as horizontally integrated. This is essential as the manufacturing processes are closely coupled and require just in time material flows from one stage of the manufacturing process to the next. Industry 4.0 leverages technologies such as Cyber Physical system and Augmented reality among other technology verticals such as Sensorization and Data Analytics. While a multitude of applications can be found for the latter, it has been a challenge to find applications for the former. This paper presents a few case studies wherein Augmented Reality and its associated technologies, leveraging on Cyber Physical systems and 3D modeling etc. have been effectively implemented in the Steel Manufacturing scenario in applications which have added value to the Bottom and Top Line of the company.
