A brake shoe is the part of a braking system which carries the brake lining in the drum brakes used in automobiles. The brake shoe is a critical component that experiences high temperatures and develop thermal stresses during application of brakes. This paper includes analysis performed on different material in order to obtain best material for designing of brake shoe. This investigation includes, Structural Analysis of redesigned brake shoe using ANSYS and comparing their Total deformation , Heat flux & Equivalent Stress & strain and Temperature distribution. From the Analysis it is inferred that the Material, AMMC3 has better characteristics required for brake shoe than Al alloy (base material). AMMC3 has lesser Total deformation, lesser Equivalent stress and more heat flux than Al alloy (base material). |
