Abstract

In this study, the compressive strength of translucent concrete was compared with that of conventional concrete. Concrete cubes of size 15cm x 15cm x 15cm were prepared and optical fibers of diameter 1mm and jute fiber of 1cm cut lengths were embedded in it. we are using jute fiber in concrete due to its high-performance environment friendliness, large availability and low cost. Now a day’s natural sand is not radially available. These resources are exhausting very rapidly. So, it is a need of time to find some substitute to natural sand. Hence, we are replacing with sand 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% of jute fiber are respectively replaced with the total volume of sand. Through this study, it was observed that the strength of light transmitting concrete was similar to that of conventional concrete.
