The present day Power system is very stressed due to ever increasing energy demand and versatile sources of power generation. This adversely affects quality of supply. Controllers are generally installed to improve the Power Quality (PQ) at various points of requirement in the system. This paper presents a review on one such controller naming Unified Power Quality Controller (UPQC). This is a very versatile controller which efficiently mitigates various problems related source as well as load side PQ. In this paper a technical analysis of a basic UPQC conditioner is presented with its control architecture. |
