Abstract |

Bitumen is a natural derivative material and it is generally utilized in road construction due to its good conventional properties includes excellent bonding properties with coarse aggregates and viscoelastic behaviour. Since the bitumen is a complex material, the behaviour of bitumen will get vary at high and low temperatures. At low temperature the bitumen reveals elastic behaviour and at high temperature it reveals liquid behaviour. Since the bitumen behaviour is different at different temperatures, the bitumen characteristic significantly affects the pavement properties. In order to resolve this issue, modifiers include anti-stripping additives and polymers are widely used to improve the bitumen properties. So, the main objective of this present study is to study the Effects of additives/modifiers on stone mastic asphalt. In this connection, a detailed literature review has been carried out concerning the effects of modifiers on the conventional and engineering properties of stone mastic asphalt. |
