Abstract

In a present day fuel efficiency and gas emmision regulation of automobile are two different important problem. To fill this problem trying to make new vehicle which can provide very high efficiency with low cost. This new vehicle are made by automobile industry. One of the best way to increase the fuel efficiency by reducing the automobile weight. The weight can be reduce by the introduction of better material, better manufacturing process and better design optimization. Weight reduction can be achieved by improvement of mechanical properties of material. Material composition is the best way to improve the mechanical property of the material. The automobile vehicle have number of many parts which can be able to replace by composite material, but due to improvement of mechanical property of composite material. So out of many component one of the component of the automobile are leaf spring which is use for carried out the whole weight of the vehicle is best option for replacement of steel material with composite material. The material selected for leaf spring are high carbon steel and natural fiber (pineapple) which is more economical with similar mechanical and geometrical properties to the steel leaf spring. The analysis is carried out ANSYS (R18.1) with same loading condition for deflection and bending stress of high carbon steel as well as natural fiber (pineapple) composite materials. A comparative study has been made between high carbon steel and natuiral fiber (pineapple).
