Abstract |
This paper outlines an experimental study to optimize the effects of selected input parameters i.e. Cutting Speed, Feed rate, Depth of cut and Type of tool for Hardness of EN-36 alloy steel by employing Taguchi Robust Design Methodology. Taguchi method stresses the importance of studying the response variation using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), resulting the maximization of quality characteristic variation due to uncontrollable parameter. Hardness is considered as the quality characteristic parameter in the concept of “the Larger the better typeâ€. Hardness values are measured from the experiment, and their optimum values are calculated. Analysis of Variance suggests that the selected cutting parameters are significant and the type of tool selected has the most significant factor for the Hardness. |
